KOJ Interiors delivered the refurbishment of The Airport Lounge at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Spanning approximately 60,000 sq. ft, the project was developed to enhance the passenger journey through a refined, comfortable, and operationally efficient lounge environment. The space required a careful balance between luxury hospitality standards, airport regulations, sustainable material requirements, and the practical demands of a high-traffic terminal setting.

From material coordination and technical detailing to site execution and stakeholder alignment, KOJ Interiors helped shape a lounge experience designed for calm, comfort, and seamless movement within one of Abu Dhabi’s most important aviation environments.

Challenge

The project required KOJ Interiors to deliver a large-scale airport lounge refurbishment within a highly regulated terminal environment.

One of the key challenges was meeting Estidama standards for sustainable materials while maintaining the visual quality and finish expectations of a premium hospitality space. The project also had to respond to strict airport regulations, airside access requirements, and safety procedures.

Midway through the works, the airport became operational, which required the team to adapt to new access conditions, operational controls, and coordination requirements. The project also involved design changes based on client feedback, followed by a return to the original concept, demanding flexibility, discipline, and close communication between all stakeholders.
